About Me
I love words and silence, movement and stillness.

My ambition is to change hearts, bodies, and minds through the practices of writing, meditation, and yoga. I want to build trust and spread truth in as many corners of the world as I can, both analog and digital.

My background is as a public health professional and statistician. I earned a Master of Public Health degree (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan in 2019, right before the world learned what epidemiology is. I live in Michigan with my beloved husband.
Writing
I write essays, speeches, and, when I'm feeling brave, poetry. For me writing is inseparable from reading; I read widely and intentionally. These days I'm publishing on Substack at Yaser Like Laser. If you have a writing assignment for me, let me know.

Meditation
I began a daily mindfulness meditation practice in 2019 and intensive retreat practice in 2022. In 2023 I met my teacher Barbara Newell, who trained and taught for twelve years as a nun in Plum Village and around the world with Venerable Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. I am also influenced by the skilled vipassana teachers at the Insight Meditation Society in Massachusetts. If you would like help beginning or sustaining a meditation practice, let's talk (or not talk).
Yoga
I began practicing yoga in 2013 as a complement to long-distance running, and since then have found healing and transformation through the practice. I earned a 200-hour teacher certification (RYS accredited through the Yoga Alliance) in 2023. Find me at Common Thread Yoga & Wellness or book a private lesson.
